Marianne Wandishin, BSN, RN, NCBTMB, Integrative Health Coach trained at Duke University
Born and raised in Southern California, I've had the privilege of growing up with a unique lifestyle. The weather was always nice, but I still had those similar childhood challenges as the rest of the world. Amongst the chaos, my parents always managed to feed us well. They bought groceries from an organic dairy nearby, activity was always encouraged since the weather was always nice, and holistic health was always accepted. I learned to meditate when I was 15 and from that point on, I continued on a path of health and passion for healing.
When I took a job in the east coast as a young adult, I learned that most people didn’t get the same exposure growing up as I did. It was then that I became even more passionate about my health and spreading the word to others on how they can live a healthier lifestyle.
I have studied massage therapy and the healing arts for over 20 years and have been able to help many people get on a more successful path for healthier living. In 2015 I received my Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Old Dominion University. My background as a nurse has given me a great education of the medical field and how it is approaches health with medication and diagnostics.
I’ve always believed both holistic and medical remedies are necessary and have always wanted to bring both approaches together. In January of 2020, I discovered Duke University's Integrative Medicine Campus and certifications for medical professionals. My health coach training at Duke became the answer to my dream. I now have a better understanding of how people's behaviors play in their total health-life balance.
At Duke they look at the whole person and their environment. This is a “wholistic approach” to health using the “Duke Wheel of Health.” As a trained health coach, I look at several dimensions of a person’s life including work, home, relationships, nutrition, activity and sleep.
Through a series of sessions, you will determine what you want to focus on, what is most important to you and then I will help you navigate a plan that fits best for the life you want to have. We will discuss behavior changes and set goals that you want to attain.
At your initial session (Health Plan Inventory) we will discuss what your vision of health looks like and what’s important to you. If you are ready to make changes in your life, we can proceed with setting up a plan for you and a series of sessions. The initial session can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes. Sessions that follow will be approximately 55 minutes. Most sessions are done virtually (via Zoom or Facetime.) I am also available to meet in person if that works best. I find that with most people having a busy lifestyle and some with small children, the virtual sessions work best.
I have an appointment scheduler through my website.
You are also welcome to call me directly.
If you give 24 hours or more notice, there is no penalty. If you cancel between 12-24 hours there is a 50% penalty fee. If less than 12 hours notice, you will be charged for the entire session.
Payments are made through myself or through my website via credit or debit card. Some insurances are now recognizing health coaching as a health benefit and a need for preventative health. Check with your insurance company. I can provide a receipt for you to submit to them for reimbursement.
The number of sessions varies upon each person's ability to commit to behavior and lifestyle changes. Most clients find they get their best results and lifestyle change desired by committing to at least three months (6-8 sessions). They are scheduled based on my recommendations, your needs and your availability (weekly or bi-weekly).
